Thursday, February 6th, 9am - Fight for Worker POWER at City Hall

The POWER Table, a group of workers' rights organizations including Philly Black Worker Project, Domestic Workers Alliance and El Comite, will be at City Council honoring the Washer Woman's Strike of 1881 AND introducing  our POWER legislation. This is a critical moment for workers' rights, especially as we have seen attacks on low wage, immigrant workers, and your presence will make a difference in pushing for accountability and protection for vulnerable workers in Philadelphia.

Friday, February 7th, 10 am - First Friday Political Education 

Join the Philly Black Worker Project for a continued discussion on Black Anarchism. Black Anarchism provides a framework for analyzing racial capitalism and fighting against oppression that our communities face. Whether you’re new to this or true to this, join us on February 7th at 10 AM via Zoom to discuss writings and videos from Black Anarchists and learn from movement veterans & elders. 

Wednesday, February 12th, 6 pm - Movie Night and Discussion on Guaranteed Income

We will be planting seeds for our upcoming Guaranteed Income campaign and watching the movie Stockton on my Mind to learn more. This will be held at our office.

Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, 4pm- Film Screening and Discussion with Cuban Filmmaker Gloria Rolando

Join the Philly Black Worker Project and the African American Museum of Philadelphia in a Film Screening of “Eyes of the Rainbow” and Discussion with filmmaker Gloria Rolando, a Cuban filmmaker and screenwriter. 


 

Her 1997 documentary “Eyes of the Rainbow,” is a 1997 focuses on the life of Black radical activist and organizer Assata Shakur, wherein Assata reflects on her journey through life, the abuses she faced as a prisoner in the United States, and her life in Cuba.
